Using ScarBan

Instructions

Scarban is a medical device. Follow the instructions that come with the product. And follow the advice of your practitioner at all times.

The instructions for use below apply to all Scarban products, with the exception of Scarban Velvet Touch.

Use of Scarban silicone patches

The important points when using Scarban silicone patches:

  • Preferably start with Scarban immediately after wound closure and when any sutures have been removed.
  • Make sure that 2 cm around the scar is covered with the plaster. If necessary, it can be cut to the right size.
  • For good adhesion and long service life, it is recommended to remove the hairs around the location of the scar.
  • Clean and dry the skin well before applying the silicone patch around the scar.
  • Gradually build up Scarban's wear time. This way your skin can gradually get used to the silicone.
  • For the best possible result, it is preferable to wear the silicone plasters for a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 20 hours per day.
  • Clean the silicone patch daily with the supplied soap. This way the silicone remains in good condition and you maintain good adhesive strength.

Duration of use Scarban Silicone bandage

Each pack of Scarban contains one or more silicone patches. With proper use and maintenance (according to the instructions for use), each package offers sufficient content for a treatment of approximately 4-8 weeks.

For long-term therapy, therefore, several packs may be necessary.

Maintenance & cleaning of the plaster

To maintain the adhesive strength, the Scarban silicone plasters must be cleaned daily.

Step 1: Neutral soap
Rub the silicone plaster with a few drops of Scarban® Silicone Cleaning Soap or a neutral soap.

Step 2: Rinse
Rinse the silicone plaster well under lukewarm running water, so that all the bubbles and soap residue are removed. After contact with soap and water, the adhesive strength disappears and the patch rolls up.

Step 3: Drying
Let the silicone plaster dry on a dry and clean surface, with the adhesive side facing up. While drying, the plaster unrolls itself and the adhesive strength gradually returns. Only use the silicone patch when it is completely dry.

Tip:
Are the edges of the silicone patch somewhat damaged over time? These can be trimmed if wear causes the adhesive to deteriorate.
